Steps for Glowing Wedding Skin
This past weekend was filled with some wonderful quality time with my husband to celebrate our anniversary. We got to reflect on the year together and talk about our goals as a couple for the future. I also got to relive our wedding through the videos and pictures. I was so happy with how everything turned out – the venues, music, decor, food, my dress, hair and makeup, and of course having glowing skin for the big days! One of the most frequently asked questions I get is what my pre-wedding skincare routine consisted of, so I thought what better time to share it with you. Here are some tips to get that glowing skin for you big day!
- Start as soon as you can. Expand your routine to incorporate the essentials as soon as you can. The more time your skin has to acclimate and take in all the benefits of a consistent routine the better.
- Research & purchase the essentials. What are the essentials? For any skincare newbies out there, I recommend a gentle cleanser, toner, exfoliator, serum, moisturizer, eye cream, face and eye masks, face mist and a lip balm.
- Mix in new products with caution. As a blogger, I am always trying out products but for wedding prep it’s important to proceed with caution. Do your research on each product – read reviews, review ingredients, and make sure to test out newbies well in advance of your wedding.
- Should I get a professional facial? I got my first facial about a year and a half before my wedding. I have combination skin with small breakouts here and there, and my main concern is the redness of my cheeks and chin. I asked the aesthetician if she recommended facials for me, and her advice was maybe once or twice a year for a thorough cleaning since I don’t have very problematic skin. If you’re considering facials, just like new products, make sure to schedule an appointment many months out to give your skin some time to recuperate.
- Use HG products. Yes, I did introduce a few new products to my routine (well in advance of the wedding), but for the most part I used my Holy Grail products. Tried and true is the way to go. Your wedding is a day you want to feel the most beautiful in your skin, so using the products that make you feel like your best self is key.
- What products to buy. If you are looking for product suggestions here are some below. Also, you can read more on my AM Holy Grail & PM Holy Grail lists.
